Facilitating EV charging infrastructure rollout under Commonwealth grants

Draft rule · not law

Submissions close 5 Nov 2026

What the video says

This is a draft electricity rule, ERC0436, from the AEMC, the energy rule-maker. It's not a federal law, and it's not final.

It would back the federal $40 million EV charging program: about 14,000 chargers, on kerbsides and in regional blackspots.

Federal grants would cover about 30%. The other 70% would come from network charges on customers where chargers go, EV owners or not.

The AEMC estimates about $1 a year on a typical bill, for five years.

Requested in April, drafted in September. The program ends in June 2029.

Submissions close 5 November on the AEMC website, under ERC0436. A final decision is expected by 17 December.

The voiceover, as written in the video’s script.
