Private Health Insurance Legislation Amendment Rules (No. 9) 2026

Commonwealth law

What the video says

Righto, a new federal rule's just dropped, and it's mostly a list of over 3,000 numbers. It's the Private Health Insurance Legislation Amendment Rules (No. 9) 2026, and it kicks in on the 1st of November. It swaps out four tables of Medicare items, which mostly sort out whether you'd need hospital at all, and whether you'd stay the night. The star is item 14245, which moves up from Type C, normally no hospital, to Type B, a hospital day procedure. That matters, because Type C doesn't normally get minimum hospital benefits, but Type B comes with minimum same-day accommodation benefits. Of 100 consultation submissions, 28 weighed in on this one, and most backed it. The rest follows Medicare's own item changes, and officially it's all administrative, so it's not thrilling, but now you know.

The voiceover, as written in the video’s script.
