What the video says
This new accounting standard is AASB 20, Regulatory Assets and Regulatory Liabilities: Australia's version of IFRS 20. Who's affected? Entities under rate regulation that sets how much and when they can charge customers, in sectors like electricity, water and gas. The catch is timing: compensation for what they supply in one period can land in rates charged in another. So they must recognise regulatory assets and liabilities, show them as line items, and explain them in the notes. It replaces AASB 14, and amends six standards and two interpretations. It applies to annual reporting periods starting on or after the 1st of January 2029, with early adoption allowed. It's disallowable, and exempt from sunsetting.
