What the video says

Can a computer now approve a Medicare provider number? For some digital applications, yes.

The Health Insurance Provider Numbers Instrument 2026 starts on 4 November.

Health professionals use these numbers to claim Medicare benefits, refer patients, and request pathology and imaging.

The Act lists five kinds who can apply. This names sixteen more, including physiotherapists, psychologists and dietitians.

It sets the checks a computer program uses to grant a digital application, like registration type and residency.

The count: five kinds in the Act, sixteen named, seven approval pathways.
