What the video says

Can international students do a short work-safety course without CRICOS?

Providers usually need CRICOS registration to deliver a course to overseas students — unless the Minister exempts that course.

From 6 November 2026, five more courses join the exempt list — so providers can offer those five to overseas students without CRICOS registration.

Three are short work-health-and-safety units. The other two cover reporting children and young people at risk, and managing licensed premises. Not every short course — just these five named additions.

The ESOS Act's full requirements don't suit some short, low-cost courses that sit beside a student's main course. Extra admin meant few providers offered them, limiting access to training for jobs in industries such as hospitality, health and construction.
