What the video says

Why is the Reserve Bank now regulating the company that moves Australia's cash?

From 7 November 2026, the Reserve Bank's designation of Prosegur Australia under the Cash Distribution Framework Act takes effect.

Prosegur becomes a designated entity — subject to the Act's framework for cash distribution providers.

The designation itself doesn't invent new obligations. Those sit in the Act, which supports and regulates cash distribution services and their providers.

The Reserve Bank and the ACCC administer it: oversight of service and access agreements, dispute resolution including arbitration, and service-level standards.

The Reserve Bank also has crisis-readiness and resolution powers for continuity of cash distribution critical to cash availability — some powers apply only in certain circumstances.
